Sarah Kogut, EdS, NCSP

Welcome to our practice, where caring for your family's well-being is our top priority. Meet Sarah, a dedicated school psychologist with over a decade of experience in providing support to individuals and families.

After witnessing the challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic brought to countless families, Sarah was inspired to establish this business. She recognized the pressing need for accessible care, particularly in a world where barriers such as time constraints, transportation limitations, and childcare concerns can hinder families from seeking the assistance they deserve.

With a firm belief in the power of telehealth, Sarah ensures that everyone, no matter their circumstances, can benefit from expert clinical guidance. We understand that life can be demanding, but your family's wellness should never be compromised.

Sarah's extensive experience spans various environments, cultures, family dynamics, age groups, disabilities, and moments of crisis. This breadth of knowledge has equipped her to empathize with diverse situations and offer tailored solutions that meet the unique needs of each family.

As a mother of twins, Sarah intimately understands that parenting is far from a one-size-fits-all journey. Just as she adapts her parenting approach to suit the individuality of each of her children, she brings the same personalized perspective to her practice. There's no secret formula, but through collaboration and compassionate guidance, every challenge can be overcome, and every issue can be resolved within the context of your family's dynamics.

At our practice, we are committed to fostering a safe and inclusive space where you are not just a client, but a valued member of our extended family. Together, we'll navigate the complexities of family life, celebrate your successes, and conquer the obstacles that come your way. Your family's well-being is our mission, and we're excited to join you on this transformative journey.

  • A school psychologist is a clinican who provides an array of school based psychological services in the K-12 setting including but not limited to psychoeducational assessment, counseling, crisis intervention, academic support, behavioral support, and consultation. In the state of California school psychologists with at least 2 years experience who have completed continuing education requirements and passed a licensure exam are eligible to obtain their Licensed Educational Psychologist credential which allows them to work in private practice. Information regarding the scope of practice of a LEP can be found at the California Board of Behavioral Sciences website https://www.bbs.ca.gov/.

  • This is a common and tricky question. In order to qualify for special education services a person must meet three prongs of eligibility. First, do they have evidence of a disability as it is defined in state/federal law. Second, is there evidence of an adverse educational impact of this disability? Third, does the child require specially designed instruction to make progress in the general education environment. This is a very wordy way to explain that schools use multiple data points to make determinations regarding special education services, which is best practice. However, the law leaves some decision making to interpretation. The best thing you can do as a parent is collaborate with your child’s school and work with them to devise a plan to support your child.

  • Executive dysfunction in adolescents is a developmental feature. Their brains are pruning information they learned in childhood and preparing for adulthood. As a result, things like organization, emotional regulation, planning, decision making, and impulsivity take a hard hit. The tricky part about teens is figuring out what is typical development and when do we need to intervene. Through the assessment process we can weed out some of those factors to devise a plan to support your teen as they launch into adulthood.
